Slumdog Forexe
Slumdog Forex

Slumdog Forex is a forex trading system and multi-media homestudy course developed by Maurice Perry, who has been trading forex for over four years and, after several bouts of failure and frustration, has finally achieved great success.

Who Am I and Why Am I Reviewing this Course?

My name is Amy Beckett, and I make a living as an e-commerce web developer. In other words, I design and program websites for companies that sell products online.

I've known about the forex market for well over a decade, but I never had any interest in it until recently. While I'm fortunate to have been unaffected by the economic recession, I'm concerned that the ideal clients for my business will become very hard to find, and that the industry will become so competitive that it'll be tough to remain profitable.

What I'm seeing right now in my industry is an influx of business owners who expect to get a high quality website coded for very little money. In addition, many companies are outsourcing their web development to cheap labor in India and the Philippines. It's becoming harder and harder to find the level of clientele that has allowed me to live quite comfortably for the past several years.

When I'm not programming websites, I do something called affiliate marketing, which is the process of obtaining new customers for various companies, in exchange for a commission on any purchases made by these customers. As with freelance web development, I don't see a bright future for affiliate marketing, either. So I've been looking for alternative ways to continue building my nest egg.

One of my colleagues in the affiliate marketing business told me that he's been learning how to trade forex, and he believes that for him, it will be his "ticket" out of what he calls "affiliate marketing hell." We had a good laugh and discussed it some more, and I decided to take a look at Slumdog Forex, the forex trading system that he's been using for nearly two months now.

Are You a Forex Newbie? Me, Too.

Now keep in mind that I'm a total forex newbie. I've never bought a forex course before, nor have I read any books or gone to any seminars. But being in the affiliate marketing industry, I've come across tons of forex courses that promise quick riches, and I declined to promote these courses because I was very skeptical of them and hated the idea of selling "get rich quick" garbage to the unsuspecting public just to make a few extra bucks.

Needless to say, I was skeptical of Slumdog Forex as well. I trusted my colleague's judgment, but I still wanted to see for myself, so I went through the course material when I had some free time. I must admit, it's not at all what I expected, and I was pleasantly surprised with how well everything was explained. Before I get into what's actually covered in the course and how I've been doing with my paper trading, I'd like to make sure that you're a good fit for Slumdog Forex, because this course isn't for everyone...

Looking for that "Magic Bullet"? Look Elsewhere...

While forex trading has made millionaires (so I've heard) out of many people, it's important to realize that forex is not for the "average joe" because there are certain qualities that one must have in order to win at this game, and the "average joe" simply does not have what it takes. Sad, but true.

So what are those "above average" qualities that will help you succeed?

Slumdog Forex is NOT, by any stretch of the imagination, a "get rich quick" scheme or a "magic bullet." This course is about making small gains over a long period of time, and there's some risk involved. If you follow along with the calculations on the Slumdog Forex website, you'll see that it's possible to make over $1,000,000 in less than a year, depending on the size of your initial investment and your daily gains. Less than a year actually a pretty short time for anyone to make that kind of money, no matter what industry they're in, but it's also a lot longer than many people are willing to wait. (Personally, I think these people need a reality check, but I digress.)

With the global economy in a state of crisis, a lot of people are looking for a quick and easy way to put an end to their financial stress, but what they need to realize is that such relief is not going to happen overnight with forex.

If you're the type of person who does not have the patience, dedication, and self-discipline required to sit down and trade for an hour or more each day, five days a week, then you don't stand a chance of achieving the level of success that the author, Maurice Perry, has attained.

There are two important quotes that came to mind as I was working my way through the Slumdog Forex course:

"Slow and steady wins the race." - from The Tortoise and the Hare

"Greed is good." - Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), in Wall Street

The first statement is true, the second is not. If you've been imagining yourself as the Gordon Gekko of forex, please don't invest in this course because your greed will result in disaster. When trading the forex market with this system, and in general, it's important to be emotionally detached from your money. If you get nervous, you will make a bad decision. If you get greedy, you will make a bad decision. You could lose your shirt if you're not in the right frame of mind.

I know this because I had a brief stint with online gambling, back when it was legal in the U.S. I played Roulette and Baccarat (don't laugh), and I turned a $100 investment into about $2,400 inside of a week. Then it all came crashing down. I withdrew all but my initial $100, thinking that I'd be able to duplicate my success of the previous week. It didn't happen. I was up $238, then I was down, down, down, until I got to $0. My heart sank into my stomach. Instead of quitting while I was ahead, I decided to take some of the money that I'd won before and put it back into the gaming account. I don't think I have to tell you what happened next. :(

My point is that if you let your emotions control your actions, you will lose. It's the same with trading, whether it be forex, stocks, options, etc.

Practice is Key — Paper Trade Forex First

Practicing without real money, known as paper trading, will help you get comfortable with forex and the Slumdog system of trading. If you're totally new to forex, then you'll probably want to paper trade for a few weeks or more so that you get the hang of it and so that you build the confidence in yourself that you'll need when you play for real.

Of course, there's real risk involved in trading with real money, but it's not nearly on the same level as Roulette, which is one of those games where the house almost always wins. Rather, being a Slumdog Forex trader is more like being a skilled Blackjack card counter because if you know what you're doing, you can beat the house time and again.

I'm coming up on three weeks of paper trading, and I've been seeing gains of about 1% to 2.7%. My best day was a 6% gain, and my worst day was a loss of around $14.00. Not bad, I say.

I'm not afraid of making the transition from paper trading to live trading because I'm confident in my ability to keep my emotions in check, and I know that I'm following a system that has been proven to work over and over again. That's not to say that it always results in gains, because it doesn't. There have been good days and bad days (mostly good days), but I'm still learning, and I know that if I keep at it, I'll get better and better.

Slumdog Forex — Here's What You Get

There's a 114-page manual that starts out showing you how to set up your trading account and getting acquainted with the interface. It then moves on to discussing and setting up indicators, and how to actually buy and sell. Below is the Table of Contents:

Slumdog Forex Table of Contents

You also get 28 videos that cover what's in the manual. Personally, I found it best to read the manual first and then watch the videos. Five of those videos show a week's worth of "live" trading — Maurice actually making trades and profits on video.

In addition, you'll get a trading projections spreadsheet and a forex trading checklist that you can keep in front of you before making your trades. That way, you won't forget what you're supposed to be looking for and what events need to occur before you pull the trigger.

More videos are available in the V.I.P. Members area, where Maurice Perry has recorded himself making actual trades and realizing the same kinds of gains that he's been telling you are possible. I haven't been inside the V.I.P. area, so I can't say much more about it.

Overall, I thought that the manual was well written and easy to understand for someone who has never been exposed to forex trading. The videos were also a big help, because there were a couple of concepts in the manual that didn't fully sink in until after watching the videos. What I like best about the course is the video proof that the system works. It doesn't get any better than watching someone practice what he preaches.
